After a disappointing first week of 7's rugby where the Rowdies found themselves 0-2, the Rowdies have now hit their stride going 4-0 during the last two weeks of competition. During this stretch the Rowdies have won matches against some very talented sides including two different Royals sides.

The Rowdies hope to keep up the winning in two weeks when they will face off with some more talented sides from the Missouri Union.

For all those interested, 7's practice will be next Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at North End Park in Belleville.

The Rowdies are currently competing in the Missouri Rugby Union Summer 7's. Training is held on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 pm at North End Park in Belleville. Newcomers and all talent levels are welcome.

The Rowdies ended their competitive season in May with two disappointing losses at the Western Rugby Football Union playoffs in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After going undefeated in Cup matches the Rowdies were ready to take on perennial powerhouses Ft. Worth and Northern State. On the first day of a very wet, muddy and cold weekend of rugby the Rowdies faced off against Northern State the eventual Division III National Champions. The match was very competitive with Northern State holding a slight edge of 10-3 at the half. The second half kicked off in fine fashion with the Rowdies scoring a try and closing the gap to 10-8. However, as the Rowdies began to prepare for the ensuing kickoff the "Sir" decided it was knock-on and the try was ripped from the scoreboard and the hearts of the team. While the Rowdies fought valiantly the "try which was taken" set the mood for the rest of the match and the weekend. The Rowdies would go down in defeat the next to day to Ft. Worth and end a successful yet disappointing season.

The Rowdies return many of their starters from a year ago and with many new additions are looking forward to successful fall campaign in a very competitive DIII Division which now includes the Ft. Leonard Wood Marauders and the St. Louis Hornets.

From the sampling of people that I talked to at the EoY Party, it sounds like we should start our Summer conditioning program. I use the term "conditioning" lightly. Mostly the goal is going to be to get everyone together once a week in an effort to maintain camaraderie, keep everybody running around a little, and have a few beers.

The program will revolve around a few different activities, mostly some things to have some fun and keep active. Maybe some basketball, ultimate Frisbee, sevens(tens), whatever. We'll start slowly, an hour or so once a week. Then slowly we'll add a little more time and activity, maybe even a second night. We'll have to feel it out.

In an effort to get this thing rolling I am going to set the first one for Tuesday the 7th of July at 7:30 pm. It should be a little cooler and hopefully we can coordinate something with the parks and rec people to use one of the fields. Preferably Ladderman because of the lights.

Let's get the lines of communication opened up and get going.
